Senior Teaching Pastor
Joe came to serve as senior pastor at LMPC in 1996. He received his bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Rider College in 1974 and his Master of Divinity in 1978 from Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. Prior to coming to LMPC, Joe served at churches in Lexington, South Carolina and Augusta, Georgia. In addition to his role at LMPC, Joe serves on the board of Covenant Theological Seminary and spends much time speaking and sharing around the country. Joe and his wife Barb have three children and three grandchildren.
Two key formative experiences for Joe have been learning about servanthood from P.T. Chandapilla in Chennai, and the crushing of his hands two months into his marriage. Influential voices in Joe's life include Ed Clowney, Harvie Conn, and Cornelius Van Til. His favorite books are The Bruised Reed by Richard Sibbes and The Christian in Complete Armour by William Gurnall. When Joe gets free time, he likes to hike the trails of Lookout Mountain. His favorite part of serving at LMPC is living with and learning from older members about life in Christ.
