Food for Friends

Dear LMPC family,

You are invited to be a part of the Food for Friends ministry.

If you have ever been on the receiving end of this meal ministry, you know what a blessing it is. When members of our church family are going through a trial, your showing up at their door with dinner in hand is an extension of God’s grace, mercy and hospitality.  More than just a meal, it is one of the most tangible ways we can demonstrate the love of Christ to our brothers and sisters.

If you join, you will not be overwhelmed by requests to take dinners; rather, schedules are rotated through all participants,  so that, depending on needs, you will only be called on about once or twice per month.

This is an email ministry.  This is how Food for Friends works:  unlike the “take them a meal” type of website where people can sign up when they want to, Food for Friends is addressing acute needs which can’t wait for sign-ups to happen – or maybe not happen.  So a schedule is made and sent via email to all the participants on that specific family schedule. People are assigned to each day, so that when you receive the schedule, if you can not do the day you are assigned, because all phone numbers are listed, you can swap with someone else on the schedule or get a sub from the list provided. It is important that you are a regular email checker so that you see the schedules.

I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to hear the appreciation from people who are on the receiving end of this ministry. You make them feel loved by their church family.

In Christ, Pamela Wilson, Food for Friends coordinator.
