Effective Date: August 27, 2026
Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church (“LMPC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the lmpc.org website (the “Site”). This page explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We collect information in order to serve our congregation and community: to respond to inquiries, register people for events and ministries, send church communications, and improve the Site. This policy describes how we collect and use that information when you use the Site.
Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
When you fill out a form on our Site, register for an event, sign up for a ministry or class, request pastoral care, or contact the church office, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Mailing address
- Phone number
- Family or household information you choose to provide (for example, when registering children for a ministry program)
- The content of any message or request you submit
Please do not use our website forms for emergencies or to share highly sensitive information. If you need urgent help, please call the church office, or in an emergency contact emergency services.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we may automatically collect standard technical information (“Usage Data”), including your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, the date and time of your visit, time spent on pages, device identifiers, and other diagnostic data.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site and understand how it is used. Cookies are small data files stored on your device by your browser.
The cookies we use include:
- Session cookies: required for the Site to function.
- Preference cookies: remember your settings and choices.
- Security cookies: used for security purposes.
- Analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors use the Site (see Analytics below).
You can set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable cookies, some parts of the Site may not work properly.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your questions and requests for pastoral care
- Register you or your family for worship services, classes, events, and ministry programs
- Send church communications, newsletters, and ministry updates you have signed up to receive
- Maintain accurate church membership and congregational records
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site
- Notify you of changes to the Site or to our programs
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and misuse
- Comply with our legal and administrative obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Church Management System
LMPC uses Realm, a church management platform provided by ACS Technologies, to maintain congregational records and communicate with members and guests. Information you provide through the Site, through the church office, or through a Realm registration or profile may be stored in Realm. This includes your name, contact information, household details, and ministry involvement.
Realm processes this information on our behalf and is contractually obligated to protect it. Access to congregational records within Realm is limited to church staff and authorized volunteers who need it to carry out their ministry responsibilities.
To review or update the information we hold about you in Realm, contact the church office or use your Realm profile if you have one.
Email and Text Communications
We use the following services to communicate with you:
- Postmark delivers transactional email generated by the Site, such as confirmations and notifications sent when you submit a form.
- Realm sends congregational and ministry communications to members and participants.
- Text Request sends text messages from the church office and from ministry leaders.
- Constant Contact sends church newsletters and announcement emails to subscribers.
Each of these providers processes your contact information and message data on our behalf, and may collect standard engagement information such as whether a message was delivered or opened.
If you provide your mobile number for that purpose, opt in to text updates, or take part in a ministry, group, or event where we use text messaging to communicate, we may send you text messages through Text Request. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. You can stop receiving texts at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by contacting the church office.
You may unsubscribe from newsletters and announcement emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any such message, or by contacting the church office. Please note that we may still send you essential messages related to something you specifically requested or registered for.
Service Providers
We work with third-party companies who help us operate the Site and carry out the ministry of the church. These parties have access to your information only to perform tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, time on site, and general location, and may use cookies to do so.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. For more on how Google handles data, see Google’s Privacy & Terms.
Online Giving
Online giving is handled entirely by Realm, our church management provider, on their own secure site at onrealm.org. When you choose to give online, you leave lmpc.org and complete your gift on Realm’s platform.
We do not collect, process, or store your payment card or bank account information on our website. That information is handled by Realm and its payment processors under their own privacy and security practices. We receive a record of the gift for our contribution and tax-receipting records.
Event registrations and volunteer signups may likewise take place on Realm’s site rather than on lmpc.org.
Spam Protection
Our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which helps us distinguish real people from automated abuse. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information, including your IP address and interaction data, and sends it to Google for analysis. Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
We also use Akismet, an anti-spam service provided by Automattic, to identify spam submissions. When you submit a form, information including your name, email address, IP address, and the content of your message may be sent to Akismet for analysis. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy for how they handle that information.
Disclosure of Information
We may disclose your personal information if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to:
- Comply with a legal obligation, subpoena, or court order
- Protect and defend the rights or property of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church
- Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Site
- Protect the personal safety of users of the Site, our congregation, or the public
- Protect against legal liability
We may also disclose information where we have a serious concern for someone’s safety, or where disclosure is required by mandatory reporting laws.
Data Security
The security of your information matters to us. We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, and we limit staff and volunteer access to congregational records to those who need it.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain congregational and membership records for as long as you are connected with the church and afterward as needed for our administrative, historical, and legal purposes. Website form submissions and email subscriber records are retained for as long as they remain useful for the purpose for which they were collected.
Our website also keeps operational logs of messages sent from the Site, which may include the contents of form submissions. We clear these logs periodically.
You may request deletion of your information as described below.
Links to Other Sites and Embedded Content
The Site contains links to sites we do not operate, including our Facebook and Instagram pages, our giving and registration pages on Realm, and podcast and app listings. It also includes embedded video from Vimeo. If you click a third-party link or interact with embedded content, that third party may collect data about you and set its own cookies, exactly as if you had visited their site directly. Our Vimeo embeds are configured with Vimeo’s “do not track” setting enabled.
We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content or privacy practices of any third-party site or service. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.
Worship Services, Recordings, and Photography
We livestream and record worship services and publish them online, and sermon recordings remain available in our online archive unless we remove them. We also take photographs and video at some church events for use on the Site, in church publications, and on our social media pages. We do not sell this material or license it for commercial use.
If you attend a worship service or a church event, you may appear in or be heard on a livestream, recording, or photograph.
Names are spoken and displayed in the ordinary course of worship, such as when someone leads part of the service, is baptized, or is received as a member. Because services are livestreamed and archived, those names may be captured in the recording. If you have a specific safety or privacy concern, please contact the church office before a service and we will talk it through with you.
If you would prefer that you or your child not appear in photographs or video, please let the church office know and we will do what we reasonably can to accommodate you, for example by not using your photograph in church publications or on our social media. Because a livestream goes out as it happens and is not edited beforehand, we cannot guarantee that you will never be captured on camera during a service.
Children’s Privacy
Our Site is written for an adult audience. It includes pages describing our children’s and youth ministry programs, but those pages are addressed primarily to parents and guardians. The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through the Site.
Registrations for children’s and youth ministry programs should be completed and submitted by a parent or legal guardian, and any information about a minor collected through those registrations is provided by and with the consent of that parent or guardian. We use that information solely to administer the program, to care for your child, and to contact you, and we share it within the church only with those involved in running that program.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
Your Choices and Rights
You may:
- Update your information: contact the church office or update your Realm profile.
- Unsubscribe from email: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or announcement email, or contact us.
- Request a copy of your information: ask us what personal information we hold about you.
- Request deletion: ask us to delete personal information we hold about you. This does not extend to information we are required or permitted to retain for administrative, historical, legal, or safety purposes.
To make any of these requests, contact us using the information below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Transfer of Information
LMPC is located in the United States, and the information we collect is stored and processed here. If you are accessing the Site from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date at the top. Changes take effect when posted, and we encourage you to review this page periodically.
