George Long Preaching Series

The George Long Preaching Series was established by the LMPC Session in 2001 as an annual reminder of our Savior’s faithful use of his holy Word in our midst that has never and will never ‘return to him void, but will accomplish the purpose for which it was sent’ (Isaiah 55:11). This series also brings honor to God for his blessings bestowed upon LMPC through the ministry of Dr. George W. Long, who served as pastor through a season of spiritual renewal in the 1970s and 80s, calling LMPC back to the primacy of God’s Word. In the front cover of his Bible, Dr. Long wrote, “This book has kept me from being lost. May I never, in any sense, lose it.” By the grace of God, this series will be used to annually root us in the authority, sufficiency, clarity, and necessity of Scripture. Dr. Long died in 2016.
