Matthew: Kingdom Defined
Matthew 19-23
Jesus’ parables, interactions and confrontations provide clarity to the way in which Jesus’ kingdom brings deep change in all things. Religion that is hollow, shallow and built on false presumption is challenged head on by King Jesus. The scene of two blind men receiving sight in Matthew 20:29-34 captures the guiding question of this section of Matthew, “Who really sees?” Two untouchable blind beggars on the outside are touched and given clear sight. This action contrasts starkly with religious leaders and disciples who think they see things clearly, but don’t. Are we seeing and responding to the kingdom as defined by Jesus?
